We set a goal with Project Vision Hawaii to provide 6,000 showers to homeless individuals and families in 2018. We began a toiletries drive in January to prepare a mobile hygiene unit to go live on February 28, 2018, and we are so in awe of what all our efforts have achieved.
There are hundreds of homeless individuals and families living on the street. For many, a hot shower makes all the difference for good health, hygiene and dignity.
For us, that’s important.
That’s why we partnered with Project Vision Hawaii and their newly launched mobile hygiene unit that will provide hot showers and services to those experiencing homelessness. With many homeless across the island and lack of access to shower facilities, this mobile unit will come to the communities to provide this service.
For the month of January, we collected various toiletries such as shampoo, conditioner and toothbrushes. Our generous donors such as Habilitat, Enterprise, and our very own Hawaii Cares Members made this project a huge success.
Alongside several other volunteers, we packed thousands of toiletry kits to successfully prepare Hiehie, the mobile hygiene unit, to go live on February 28, 2018.
We couldn't be more grateful for Project Vision Hawaii and all of our amazing donors and volunteers for their efforts. This initiative will provide the feeling of health, security and aloha to those in our society who need it the most, and that is why we do what we do.
